El Casal Popular La Turba va néixer l’any 1997 a través de diversos col·lectius vallencs i persones vinculades al moviment d’alliberament nacional, a la lluita ecologista i de l’àmbit cultural amb l’objectiu de crear un espai polític i cultural alternatiu per a la ciutat i, més globalment, com una eina que ha de col·laborar en el procés de reconstrucció nacional dels Països Catalans.
La Turba forma part de la Xarxa de Casals i Ateneus dels Països Catalans i del moviment polític de l’Esquerra Independentista, que lluita per a l’alliberament nacional, social i feminista.
